Kawasaki Versys 650

Kawasaki recently launched a new bike, the Kawasaki Versys 650, in India at a starting price of Rs 7.36 lakh. It will compete with models like the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT and Triumph Tiger Sport 660.

Kawasaki has launched the upgraded Versys 650 in the Indian market. This middle-weight tourer bike is accepting bookings, and deliveries will begin soon, too. It receives many aesthetic improvements, additional capabilities, and even technical support.

Kawasaki Versys 650 Specifications

The 2022 Versys 650 remains mechanically the same as its predecessor. The adventure bike is powered by an above-550cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that generates 65.71bhp at 8,500rpm and 61Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Versys 650 gets a Showa 41mm upside-down telescopic fork with adjustable rebound damping front damping, while the Showa mono-shock gets preload adjustment from the rear. Brakes also remain unchanged, with two 300 mm discs with two-piston calipers at the front and 250 mm discs with single-piston calipers at the rear. The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 wheels have a diameter of 17 inches.

2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 Design & Features

In terms of looks, the 2022 Versys 650 has changed slightly and is now influenced by its bigger Versys 1000 sibling. A small beak-like device is located below the new twin LED headlights in the front half-fairing. A new four-way adjustable windshield has also been seen. For 2022, there are two color options for the new Versys 650: Lime Green and Metallic Phantom Silver. It also has updated graphics.

The all-new 2022 Versys 650 is equipped with Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), which comes in two modes: one that is less aggressive and helpful when riding in low grip conditions. Additionally, the traction control system can be disabled.

Another important feature of the 2022 Versys 650 is its new TFT display, which is also available with Bluetooth connectivity.

Price and Rivals

The new 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 is priced at Rs 21,000 more than its predecessor. However, considering all the revisions, including new traction control, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and a new adjustable windshield, the hike in prices is not a major concern. Unlike the old Versys 650, the new bike seems to be a better deal.

The Suzuki V Strom 650XT and Triumph Tiger Sport 660 are two competitors to the new Versys 650. Some other best 650cc bikes in India include the Kawasaki Vulcan S, Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
