Enjoy the Super Meteor 650 concept but don’t like the cruiser bike riding position? You might want a bike like this.
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been around for a while; The firm first unveiled the SG650 concept two years back at EICMA 2021. Although RE decided to unveil its Super Meteor 650 before the Shotgun, recent sightings of the Shotgun 650 reveal that the bike appears to be in production-ready condition.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: what to expect?
The new images give us a clear view of the headlight shroud, which appears to be made of cast aluminum, suggesting the Scream 411. The bike will get a USD fork and alloy wheels similar to the Super Meteor 650, though the wheel size will likely differ from the 19-inch front and 16-inch rear combination of the Super Meteor to create a cruiser posture.
The fuel tank design of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 looks different in the pictures, but the chassis and limited side bodywork look similar. The front pegs on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 are replaced by mid-mounted foot peg placement, which creates a significant gap along the sides. Nevertheless, the rear resembles a Super Meteor with its single round brake lamp and large indicators.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Engine
Expect the Shotgun 650’s engine to be similar to the Super Meteor’s air-cooled 4-valve 648cc parallel twin engine, which produces 47 horsepower and 52 pound-feet of torque. On shotguns, end drive gearing and general condition of tune can vary significantly, although the variation should be negligible.
Currently under development by Royal Enfield bikes are the updated Interceptor 650 and the soon-to-be-released Continental GT 650. The much-awaited Himalayan 450 (along with the Roadster and the Scrambler on the same platform) is another vehicle we expect to go on sale later this year. Apart from this, it is worth noting that the new Bullet 350 is yet to be made available for purchase. The company is also developing a new EV that will launch in 2024.
