History Of India’s Best-Selling Motorcycle
The first generation Honda Activa hit the Indian market in 2001, followed by its successor in 2008 with a larger 110cc engine. The Activa 3G arrived in 2014, as did the first Activa 125. This was the first time that Honda launched the 125cc Activa. LED headlights and DRLs were first introduced in 2017 with the Activa 5G. The Honda Activa 6G arrived in 2019 to celebrate its 10th year and then got a BS6 facelift and a silent starter. Honda has dropped the 6G suffix and called it the 2023 Activa. Honda’s first electric scooter is also likely to be named Activa.
Honda Activa Electric is expected to be launched in India in December 2023. The price of the Honda Activa electric scooter will be around Rs 1,20,000.
Honda Activa 3 Crore Sales Milestone
Honda launched its best-selling scooter in the Indian market in 2001 with a 100cc engine. The Honda Activa has reached a new sales milestone with the sale of over three crore units in India. The achievement comes 22 years after the launch of the original Activa. The scooter crossed the 10 million sales mark in 2015, and 20 million units were sold in the next seven years. In a later development, Honda upgraded the unit to a 110 cc mill in 2008, followed by the more powerful Activa 125 in 2014.
