Suzuki has introduced the new “Katana” in India, and prices have started at Rs 13.61 Lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open, and deliveries are expected to start soon.

Suzuki India finally released the Katana in India on 4 July, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 13.61 lakh. Suzuki’s updated streetfighter from the 1980s first caught our attention during the EICMA in 2018, and we have been expecting it to hit Indian roads ever since. However, this bike is a facelift of the Katana that we first saw at EICMA a few years back and receives minor changes over the previous model.
2022 Suzuki Katana Design & Features
A Japanese samurai sword gave the katana, a naked sports bike, its name. The Katana was first introduced in Japan by Suzuki in 1981. Before discontinuing, production continued till 2006.
The new bike from 2022 has the same aesthetic as its predecessors. Rectangular LED headlamps have been placed in the semi-fairing. It differs in design from the extension connecting it to the fuel tank.
After July 4, the Suzuki Katana will be offered at Rs 13,61,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) across all Bike Zone outlets of the firm. The motorcycle will be available in two color options: Metallic Matte Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver.
Despite the large overall ratio, the short wheelbase makes for a quick city handler. The narrow tail section gets wide back tires and 4-1 side exhaust. Suzuki offers a digital instrument panel with a Bluetooth connection for the Katana. Additionally, there are two different dual-tone color options. The first is Solid Iron Gray with matte-black alloy wheels, while the second is Metallic Stellar Blue with bronze alloy wheels.
2022 Suzuki Katana Engine & Specifications
Suzuki’s MotoGP successes have led them to deploy refined yet reliable technologies in their 999cc engine. It is powered by a liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. The top output of this engine is a respectable 150 horsepower.
Power is sent to the back wheel using a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. It also gets a slipper-assist clutch for smooth gear changes at the redline. The bike also gets a fully adjustable USD front suspension along with a 7-step adjustable rear mono shock suspension.
Suzuki offers three optional riding modes, in addition to a bidirectional quick shifter and ride-by-wire technology. This bundle is known as the S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System).

Katana costs Rs. 13.61 lakh. Prices may vary in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka due to taxes. The Suzuki Katana’s bike rivals are the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and BMW S 1000 XR. However, the Honda CB1000R and Ducati Multistrada V2 are some other famous names among the best 1000cc bikes available in India.
