Ather 450S vs Competitors

Ather Energy is one of the major players in the Indian electric two-wheeler market. It competes with other EV brands such as Ola Electric, TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, etc. The Ather Bikes recently launched its latest offering, the Ather 450S, which is the most affordable scooter from the brand. Despite their budget-friendly price tags, all these scooters offer impressive features, making it difficult to choose between them.

The top five rivals of Ather 450S are –

1. Ather 450X

Ather Energy recently updated its electric scooter line-up with the updated Ather 450X and the newly launched Ather 450S. These models mainly differ in terms of their battery packs and features. Design-wise, the 450S looks a lot like the 450X. However, when comparing Ather 450S vs 450X, the main difference is in the battery pack. The 450S has a smaller 2.9 kWh battery, while the 450X has a 2.9 kWh battery and a larger 3.7 kWh battery.

The charging time is the same as 450S. An additional 3.7 kWh battery option offers a range of 150 km. The charging time of the large battery is 5 hours 45 minutes. The 450X is priced at Rs 1.40 lakh and Rs 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Ola S1 Air

Two leading electric scooter manufacturers have launched their entry-level models – Ather Energy’s 450 and Ola Electric’s S1 Air in India. The Ather 450S has an electric motor with a maximum power output of 5.4 kW, while the Ola S1 Air has a 2kW motor with a range of 85 km. The top speed of both scooters is 90 km/h, but the S1 Air has a slightly faster acceleration time from 0 to 40 km/h. This battery offers a claimed range of 115 km on a single charge. The Ola S1 Air, on the other hand, has a larger 3kWh battery, which delivers a certified range of 125 km.

These scooters come with multiple riding modes to suit different preferences and conditions. Ather 450S has options like SmartEco, Eco, Ride, and Sport modes. Similarly, the Ola S1 Air offers Sports, Normal, and Eco modes.

3. Ola S1 X

The design of both the Ather 450S and Ola S1X looks different compared to other petrol scooters on the road. The Ather 450S is sporty and sharp. On the other hand, the Ola S1X has a sleek and minimalist design with a flat footboard. The Ather 450S comes with a 2.9kWh battery pack. The company has claimed that the scooter can be charged from 0 to 100% in 8 hours and 36 minutes. On the other hand, the Ola S1 X+ is equipped with a 3kWh battery pack, which can be fully charged in 7 hours and 24 minutes.

4. TVS iQube

The Ather 450S is powered by a 2.9 kWh battery pack that enables it to cover a range of 115 km on a single charge at a top speed of 90 kmph. The electric scooter takes 3.9 seconds to reach 0-40 kmph. Powered by a 3.04 kWh battery pack, the TVS iQube covers a range of 100 km on a single charge at a top speed of 78 kmph.

The iQube ST is powered by a 4.56 kWh battery pack that enables it to range up to 145 km on a single charge at 82 kmph. Ather 450S is priced at 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). On the other hand, the TVS iQube is priced between 1.34 lakh and 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

5. Vida V1 

The all-new Vida V1 scooter has an electric motor and a 3kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This setup offers a claimed range of 115 km per charge. The Vida bike draws power from a hub-mounted electric motor with a removable 3.44kWh battery pack. The EV promises a range of up to 143 km on a single charge.

Regarding rider safety, the Ather 450S and Vida V1 have disc brakes on both front and rear wheels with a Combined Braking System (CBS), regenerative braking, and multiple riding modes.
