The 2022 iterations of the two motorcycles meet Japan’s Riva 2 emission standards (which are at par with Euro 5 and BS6).
Suzuki has introduced its 125cc twins, the Suzuki GSX-R125 and GSX S125, in Japan for 2022. The modified motorcycles now comply with the Riva 2 emission norms, which are at par with the country’s BS6 and Euro 5 emission norms.
In December 2021, the Euro-5 compliant version was made public worldwide. The faired bike sells JPY 453,200 (approximately Rs 2.71 lakh) in Japan, while the naked model is JPY 420,200. (about Rs 2.51 lakh). Two motorcycles are manufactured and brought there in Indonesia. The GSX-S125 is only offered in blue and black, but the GSX-R125 is offered in three colors: blue, red, and black.
Suzuki GSX-R125 and GSX-S125: Engine and Features
A 124cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 15PS and 11Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, powers the two motorcycles. Except for the cleaner engine, the motorcycles are essentially the same as before.
The KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 produce 14.5PS and 12Nm, respectively. The GSX-R125 (137kg kerb) and GSX-S125 (135kg kerb) are 23kg and 24kg lighter than the KTM RC 125. This should improve the power-to-weight ratio.
Suzuki’s 125cc scooter lineup includes the Suzuki Access 125 and Burgman Street, which are fitted with smartphone connections and turn-by-turn navigation. A fully digital instrument cluster, Suzuki easy start system, danger lights, a key slot with a shutter, and dual-channel ABS are among the notable features of the machines. Still, we wish they had included it in the motorcycles as well.
Suzuki in India
It is unlikely that Suzuki will introduce a new 125cc bike in India. Still, more powerful options exist, such as the Yamaha MT-15 and R15 V4. However, if you are looking for a high-end 125cc motorbike, you have KTM 125 Duke and RC 125.
