The all-new EM1 e: electric scooter has been unveiled by Honda for the European market. The model is the company’s first electric product after announcing ambitions to launch 10 or more electric two-wheeler models internationally by 2025. The EM in the name refers to “electric moped.” Honda claims that the EM1 e is one step closer to having a carbon-neutral motorbike lineup by 2040.
By mid-2023, the EM1 e: is expected to hit the market in Europe. The new product meets the needs of young customers for urban mobility to go to work or school. The model features a flat step-through construction for a crisp appearance and small dimensions. The model features DRLs, all-LED lighting, and a carrier at the rear for top cases or standard accessories.
The removable battery system is the standout feature of the Honda EM1 e: Honda Mobile Power Pack E: The removable battery pack for electric mopeds has a range rating of 40 kilometers on a single charge. According to the manufacturer, the Mobile Power Pack (MPP) is “built to endure a range of temperatures, humidity levels, impact, and vibration.”
The MPP can be withdrawn and charged at the convenience of the user’s home or workplace. Honda hasn’t made the EM1 specifications public. However, the model appears to have the hub motor mounted on the rear wheel, and the battery pack limits the storage space under the seat.
