The Matter e-bike will be the first electric motorcycle in India with a 4-speed gearbox.
Matter Energy’s first electric motorcycle has been launched, and it features several firsts for an electric motorcycle, including a 4-speed gearbox and even ABS. The bike is powered by a 5.0 kWh liquid-cooled battery, which Matter Energy claims give a range of 125-150 km (more than both the Tork Kratos R and Oberon Roar).

Matter Energy Electric Bike: Battery, Motor, and Powertrain Details
The 5.0 kWh liquid-cooled, IP67-rated battery in the Matter Energy electric bike can be charged even when plugged into a standard 5A household outlet. According to Matter, it will take about 5 hours to charge fully. We look forward to testing in the real world, with the motor making a claimed 520Nm of torque at the rear wheel, rated for 10.5kW. The names of its three riding modes have not been made public yet.
The fact that this is the first electric bike in India with a conventional gearbox – a 4-speed unit – is what caught our attention. Dual-channel ABS is a first for an electric bike.
Matter Energy Electric Bike: Features
With a 7.0-inch touch-compatible LCD that includes turn-by-turn navigation, notification alerts, and music playback, all controlled via buttons on the handlebar-mounted switchgear, the Matter electric bike is one feature-rich vehicle. The bike’s software will receive regular OTA (over-the-air) upgrades to get the latest features.
Like the Chetak e-scooter, the Matter electric bicycle has a key fob for keyless operation. The Matter e-bike has an onboard charger and a charging port in a compact 5-liter glovebox on the “tank.” The bike will be compatible with proprietary software that gives users access to a wealth of data, including ride metrics, charging progress, and theft detection. The Matter Energy electric bike will also have a park assist (reverse functionality) feature.
Matter Energy Electric Bike: Design And Variants
The design of the Matter Energy electric bike has an aggressive, mass-forward aesthetic, much like a classic naked streetfighter. All lighting is LED, and the indicators feature auto-canceling technology. The bike features split seats, high clip-on handlebars, and a split grab rail for the pillar. The bike has four color options: Red/Black/White, Blue and Gold, and Black and Neon Grey.
Matter Energy Electric Bike: India Launch, Pricing
Booking for the first product from Matter Energy will open in Q1 2023, and product pricing will be released. The first deliveries are expected to commence in April 2023. The Matter will showcase the electric bike at the Auto Expo, available in three variants. The brand name and price of the bike are still unknown.
