For the 2023 RE Continental GT model, improvements include an LED headlight that comes as standard, new premium switchgear, and alloy wheels available in specific color options.
The redesigned Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, originally showcased in the UK last month, has been released in India with prices starting from Rs 3.19 lakh. The top-tier “Mr. Clean” chrome variant costs Rs 3.45 lakh and comes with wire, and spoke wheels, while the version with alloy wheels costs Rs 3.39 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India).
The updated bike has an LED headlight, more premium switchgear on all versions, and Alloy wheels on certain color options. With these updates, the RE Continental GT prices have increased by Rs 14,000.
The Continental GT 650 was an impressive motorbike when it was first introduced in 2017 and has remained a strong value for money over time. However, the absence of significant improvements has caused the bike to look dated in recent years, falling behind even the more affordable single-cylinder bike of the RE in terms of features and attention to detail.
2023 RE Continental GT 650: LED Headlight, New Switchgear
The GT now gets a much-needed boost with this 2023 update, bringing it into the present. It adopts a new switchgear design from bikes like the Royal Enfield Super Meteor and swaps its halogen reflector headlight with an LED unit from the Super Meteor 650. The switch cubes are made from the same aluminum as the cruiser, thus adding to their premium status.
2023 RE Continental GT 650: Alloy wheels, New tyres, USB charger
Finally, the GT receives the most requested modification, a set of alloy wheels. Still, only Apex Gray and Slipstream Blue, two of the six color options (many of which are all-new for 2023), are offered with the alloys. Even Royal Enfield’s MiY configurator doesn’t allow you to add alloy wheels to other color options.
Dimensions remain the same at 18 inches at both ends, but the new Wedstein tyres that Royal Enfield India previously fitted to the wheels have been replaced. The last new feature is the addition of a USB charging socket to the left handlebar.
2023 RE Continental GT 650: New Pricing
Apart from these adjustments, everything else remains the same. Thus the 648cc parallel-twin engine continues to produce 47.5hp and 52Nm. As with the suspension it hinges on, the chassis is unchanged.
All these adjustments have resulted in a marginal price hike of Rs 14,000 in the lineup. Prices are now between Rs. 3.19 and Rs. 3.45 lakh as against the previous limit of Rs. 3.05 to Rs. 3.31 lakhs. A similar modification has been done to the Interceptor 650 as well.
