Suzuki V-STROM 800DE and GSX-8S: Engine & Power
The all-new platform from the Japanese manufacturer will target the growing middleweight market. An all-new 776cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a counterbalancer improved performance on the Suzuki GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE.
Suzuki has tuned the ADV’s engine differently, so it now makes 83 bhp at 8500 Rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6800 Rpm, while the GSX-8S makes 81 bhp at 8500 Rpm and 78 Nm of peak torque at 6800 Rpm.
Suzuki V-STROM 800DE and GSX-8S: Features
In terms of design, the GSX-8S is influenced by the GSX-S1000 and features a vertically stacked LED projector headlight, large tank extensions, and a shorter tail section. A mono-shock and KYB USD fork support the chassis. Suzuki uses a 240mm disc at the rear and two 310mm discs for braking.
The GSX-8S also features a five-inch TFT panel, Suzuki Drive Mode Select (SDMS), a three-mode traction control system, ride-by-wire throttle, and a quick bi-directional shifter.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, on the other hand, takes aesthetic cues from the V-Strom 1050XT and features a similar stubby beak, longer tank extensions, and more minor LED indicators. The 776cc bike looks more attractive and adopts maxi-enduro styling, unlike the V-Strom 650XT.
Suzuki V-STROM 800DE and GSX-8S: Prices & Rivals
Around September 2023, the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE STD will launch in India with an expected retail price of Rs 11.0 lakh. Suzuki is yet to announce whether it will introduce the GSX-8S in the Indian market.
The V-Strom 800DE, in particular, could be a perfect rival to the perennial favorites Triumph Tiger 900 and BMW F 850 GS. On the other hand, Triumph Street Triple R and Yamaha MT-07 will be competitors for the GSX-8S.
