Since they were first glimpsed at a Yamaha dealer convention earlier this year, the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 have been much anticipated in India. We now know when these two new bikes will be available in India.
As per the interview with the chairman of Yamaha India, the company intends to introduce the R3 and its naked twin, the MT-3, to India closer to the end of the fiscal year. Therefore, a launch between December 2023 and March 2024 may be on the cards.
Unlike before, the bikes will now be shipped from Indonesia to India in CBU condition; however, the business plans to eventually switch to CKD production. The updated BS4 R3 has enhancements, including a USD fork and a revamped style over the previous model. This was last sold for Rs 3.5 lakh before withdrawal. The 2023 Yamaha R3 may be quite pricey and cost more than Rs 4 lakh in light of this. However, Yamaha Motorcycles may maintain the price at or below that threshold.
Yamaha R3, MT-03: When will launch in India?
It’s unclear whether the MT-03 will debut concurrently with the R3 or soon after. However, the twin-cylinder MT-03 will be introduced in India since Yamaha is eager to expand the MT brand there.
Enhanced LED indicators and trendy purple coloring were added to the R3 for 2023. The 321cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine continues to operate as before, producing 42hp at 10,750 rpm and 29.5Nm at 9,000 rpm. This bicycle’s diamond-shaped frame houses a KYB-supplied 37mm USD fork and a preload-adjustable mono shock. A slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, all-LED lighting, and an LCD are a few of the more basic features.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Ninja 400, which compete with them as parallel twin sports bikes in India, cost Rs 3.43 lakh and Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
