Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Launched in India

Bajaj today introduced the world’s first CNG bike, the Freedom 125. Check out its ex-showroom features, colors, and price on Bikechuno.

Bajaj is offering the world’s first CNG motorcycle, which is fully made in India. The live event, held in Pune on July 5, 2024, was a historic moment for the automotive industry worldwide, especially in the field of alternative fuels. At the start of the event, Bajaj Auto revealed the official name of the CNG motorcycle as “Freedom.” The Chakan-based bike maker promoted its first-ever CNG motorcycle on social media several times before the unveiling.

Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj unveiled the CNG bike in Pune in front of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG: Engine and Specification details

The Bajaj Freedom’s 125 cc single-cylinder engine runs on both petrol and CNG (compressed natural gas). The CNG tank is neatly placed under the seat. The engine produces a peak torque of 9.7 Nm and 9.5 horsepower. The Freedom 125 CNG’s riding range is 300 km.

Bajaj Freedom 125 has a 2-liter CNG tank. According to the company, driving a CNG two-wheeler will cost around ₹ 1 per kilometer.

In terms of design, the CNG tank is placed in the middle of the bike to improve weight distribution. The 2-liter fuel tank is often located where fuel tanks are located on regular motorcycles, above and ahead of the CNG tank. With a simple flip of a button, the rider can switch between the two fuels. The filler cap for petrol and CNG is the same.

The Bajaj Freedom’s design differentiates it from other commuter bikes in India. According to Bajaj, the top two models have a stylish tail section, LED headlight, dirt bike-like fuel tank, and the largest seat in the market.  The Freedom 125 CNG features a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, which is another amazing feature.

Underneath the bodywork is a tubular trellis frame supported by a connected mono-shock and telescopic fork. The new Bajaj CNG bike rides on 17-inch wheels and is equipped with a front disc brake and rear drum brake for braking. On the other hand, the standard model also has a front drum brake.

The Bajaj is offering its brand new CNG bike in India in 7 color schemes: Cyber White, Ebony Black/Grey, Racing Red, Cyber White, Carribean Blue, Pewter Grey/Black, Ebony Black/Red, and Pewter Grey/Yellow.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG: Price and Rivals

The Bajaj launched the Freedom 125 in three variants: NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Disc LED. The prices for the Bajaj CNG bikes are ₹ 95,000, ₹ 1,05,000, and ₹ 1,10,000, respectively. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

For now, there is no direct rival to the Bajaj Freedom 125. As it is the world’s only CNG bike. However, in the commuter segment, the Bajaj Freedom will compete with the Honda SP 125, Honda Shine, Bajaj CT 125X, and Hero Passion Xtec.
