With assistance from Mattighofen-based sports bike maker KTM, Bajaj Auto has created the RS 200, a new 200cc Pulsar. The motorcycle appears to feature the same engine as the Pulsar 200 NS and is fully faired. The new Pulsar RS 200 from Bajaj will be unveiled in Mumbai on March 26. In this blog, we examine the bike in more detail and contrast it with competitors, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the KTM RC200.
BAJAJ PULSAR RS200 VS SUZUKI GIXXER 250 VS KTM RC200: DISPLACEMENT
Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and KTM RC200 have liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engines whereas the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has an oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Although the 199.5cc engines powering the Pulsar RS 200 and the RC200 were co-developed by Bajaj and KTM Bikes in India, the Pulsar needs three spark plugs to ignite its engine, whereas KTM Bikes employs just one. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 engine produces 249cc, which is roughly 50cc more than the other two, giving it a displacement advantage over the other two.
BAJAJ PULSAR RS200 VS SUZUKI GIXXER 250 VS KTM RC200: POWER & TORQUE
The Suzuki Gixxer’s 249 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine produces 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7300 rpm and about 26.1 horsepower at 9300 rpm. A 200cc liquid-cooled motor producing 18.7Nm at 8,000 rpm and 24.2 horsepower at 9,750 rpm powers the Pulsar RS200.
The 199.5cc BS6 engine that powers the KTM RC 200 produces 19.2 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm and 24.6 horsepower of power at 10000 rpm.
BAJAJ PULSAR RS200 VS SUZUKI GIXXER 250 VS KTM RC200: HARDWARE
The bike has a mono-shock in the back and telescopic forks up front. The Gixxer 250, on the other hand, uses disc brakes on both ends as standard equipment, which are supported by dual-channel ABS. The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is equipped with a monoshock and telescopic front forks. Its 17-inch alloy wheels are equipped with a single front and rear disc brake system. The 13-liter gasoline tank on the Pulsar RS200 is a feature provided by Bajaj.
Regarding the hardware, unlike the outgoing bike, the new RC 200 is built around a split-type trellis frame with a bolted-on sub-frame. To save weight, the wheels and brakes are also lighter. Additional hardware modifications consist of fully adjustable handlebar risers to fine-tune the ergonomics and a new WP Apex mono-shock.
BAJAJ PULSAR RS200 VS SUZUKI GIXXER 250 VS KTM RC200: WEIGHT
