It has finally been confirmed that the BSA Goldstar 650 will touch down in India after several months of anticipation. Aiming for an official launch on August 15, Independence Day, the BSA Goldstar 650 will also introduce Classic Legends to the high-end 650 cc class, which is dominated by Royal Enfield’s 650 cc parallel-twin models. Out of which, in terms of styling, engine specifications, etc., the RE Interceptor 650 will be the Goldstar 650’s primary adversary. Therefore, which of the two roadster motorcycles seems more amazing when written down?
DESIGN
These bikes are modern-retro in style, and they have the charm and timeless quality of vintage motorcycles in their design. The newly launched bike here is the BSA Gold Star, which has stunning styling. The Gold Star is a prime example of “less is more” in terms of design, from the way the fuel tank is shaped to the clean, straightforward style of the fenders. It looks good without anything extravagant, and the hues and chrome throughout only serve to enhance its allure.
Even though the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has existed since 2018, frequent modifications and new colors have kept it looking just as appealing. The bike’s engine, exhaust pipes, and alloy wheels have all been blackened out in recent revisions, complementing the classic style.
Both the Royal Enfield and the BSA Bikes have attractive looks and should be enjoyed by fans of contemporary retro motorcycles.
FEATURES
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has been around since 2018, but despite this, regular updates and new colors have kept it looking good. Recent updates to the bike’s blackened-out alloy wheels, exhaust pipes, and engine complete the vintage look.
Motorcycle enthusiasts who like modern-retro styles should like the appealing appearances of both the Royal Enfield and the BSA.
ENGINE
A 652cc single-cylinder engine that generates 44.97 horsepower and 55 Nm of torque powers the Gold Star 650. Strong low-end torque, according to BSA, may translate into easy cruising and responsive city riding. The Interceptor 650, on the other hand, has a 648cc parallel-twin engine that produces 52 Nm of torque and 46.99 horsepower.
In contrast to the Interceptor’s twin, the Gold Star’s single-cylinder design may have a different character, possibly providing superior refinement levels and a more instantaneous torque response at lower RPMs. In terms of refinement, the twin-cylinder configuration of the Royal Enfield engine should give it an advantage over the more contemporary BSA engine, which uses liquid cooling.
FRAME & SUSPENSION
A double-cradle tubular steel frame with adjustable twin shock absorbers and 41mm telescopic forks serve as the foundation for the BSA Gold Star 650. Its 18-inch wheels and Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tires point to excellent handling.
A similar frame design with a fastened truss and matched suspension arrangement is used on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Although they both have a classic appearance, the Interceptor weighs 202 kg as opposed to the Gold Star’s 213 Kg. On the other hand, the longer wheelbase of the BSA might provide more stability when driving on a highway. Even though the BSA weighs more than the Interceptor 650, shorter riders should benefit from the BSA’s significantly lower seat height.
PRICE
The starting price of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Standard version is Rs.3,02,418. The other three versions, which are priced at Rs.3,10,418; Rs.3,20,622; and Rs.3,30,273, are the Interceptor 650 Custom, Interceptor 650 Alloy Wheel, and Interceptor 650 Chrome. The prices listed for the Interceptor 650 are average ex-showroom rates.
The suggested pricing range for the BSA Gold Star is Rs.3 lakh to Rs.3.30 lakh.
