Honda Shine vs Honda SP 125

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India recently launched the OBD2-compliant SP 125 in our market. Its dealerships will be available in green and orange zones. 

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is introducing a range of commuter bikes in the Indian market. Its popular offerings include the Honda Shine and the Honda SP 125. Both bikes cater to the commuter bikes segment and are known for their fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. 

In this article, we will compare the Honda Shine and Honda SP 125 to help you make an informed choice based on your requirements.

Design

Honda Shine has received styling changes during the BS6 transition. It has a simple yet beautiful computer-oriented design. Meanwhile, the SP 125 sports an aesthetic look with geometrically designed headlamps and fuel tank extension. It also includes excellent-looking alloy wheels. Shine is offered in Black, Jenny Gray Metallic, Matte Axis Grey, Rebel Red Black Metallic, and Decent Blue Metallic color shades. 

Honda SP 125 is available in Black, Matte Axis Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue, and Matte Marvel Blue Metallic paint schemes.

Engine

When comparing Honda Shine vs SP 125, both bikes have 125cc engines. Honda Shine has a 123.94cc BS6 engine, which produces 10.5 bhp power and 11 Nm torque. Meanwhile, a 124cc BS6 Stage 2 engine powers the SP125; it develops an output power of 10.7 bhp and 10.9 Nm of torque. 

The Shine bike weighs 113 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 10.5 liters, while the SP 125 bike weighs 116 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 11.2 liters. The mileage of both the bikes is the same, 50-60 kmpl, and the gearbox is 5-speed. Both bikes have front and rear drum brakes and come with a combined braking system on both wheels.

Features

In terms of features, the SP 125 gets an all-LED headlamp and digital cluster instruments. In contrast, the Shine gets a primary analog console with conventional lighting, a fully analog start-stop switch, and an integrated high beam and low beam. The Switch is a new addition. A common feature of both bikes is the ACG silent starter for less engine cranking noise.

Price

The Honda Shine price in India starts at Rs 79,800, whereas the Honda SP 125 price starts from Rs 85,131 (ex-showroom prices).
