Bajaj Freedom CNG Bike – Variants Explained Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Vs Competitors: Specs and Features Comparison
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Vs. Honda XL750 Transalp

After months of anticipation, the Suzuki V-Storm 800DE is now available in India, satisfying people’s desire to own the adventure motorcycle. This marks Suzuki’s first significant bike debut in India in a long time. The V-Strom 800DE’s features and specifications are on par with its competitors, but its price is the proverbial frosting on the cake. Its closest rival is the Honda XL750 Transalp, which costs Rs 70,000 more than the Suzuki. This is how they compare to one another.

Design

These two adventure motorcycles each have distinct styles influenced by their larger-capable stablemates. The design of the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE was inspired by the adventure bike from several decades ago, the DR Big. This is clear from the bike’s well-executed, primarily flat body panels. Form and function are nicely balanced, from the tall fairing that blends in with the fuel tank to the beak. The V-Strom 800DE’s tailpiece blends in perfectly with the rest of the bike. Overall, the design is tasteful and a little unconventional, but it does give the bike more presence—especially when it’s painted Champion Yellow 2.

It’s not a bad thing that the Honda XL750 Transalp’s design draws inspiration from the formidable Africa Twin. The wide front fairing and the way it blends in with the tank make it appear more streamlined; the same is true of the rear end. However, compared to the more showy style of the V-Strom 800DE, it is a conservative design. Nevertheless, the white Honda does have a very appealing appearance.

Features

Both the Suzuki and the Honda bikes have modern equipment that works well. Both bikes have color TFT displays and LED lighting. Additionally, they have switchable ABS, traction control, and ride modes that allow you to slide the bike and make tighter turns while off-road.

Engine

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is powered by a 776cc parallel-twin engine that produces 84 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm. Its 270-degree crank should contribute to its distinctive character. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quick-shifter.

The Honda also boasts a two-cylinder, 755cc engine, but its output is 90 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 75 Nm at 7250 rpm. Although the Transalp produces less torque but more extraordinary power, it must be revved higher than the Suzuki engine to reach its maximum potential. A six-speed gearbox is also mated to this engine.

Hardware

A mono-shock and a USD fork support both motorcycles’ frames. The Suzuki has an edge over the Honda, though, in that both ends of the suspension are adjustable, complete with a handy remote preload adjustment. While the mono-shock has preload adjustment, the Honda lacks adjustable fork suspension.

Cost

The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE’s ex-showroom price of Rs 10.30 lakh is significantly less than its rivals. At Rs. 11 lakh, the Honda XL750 Transalp is more expensive than the Suzuki, as it lacks some amenities.
