The award of Indian Motorcycle of the Year for 2024 goes to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the most iconic motorcycle in the country. After this, the Triumph Scrambler 400X and KTM 390 Duke stood in second and third place, respectively.

Royal Enfield Himalayan has emerged as the winner of the 2024 Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) competition. The Himalayan outperformed the TVS Apache RTR 310, Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Triumph Scrambler 400X, Hero Karizma XMR, Harley Davidson X440, and the KTM 390 Duke.

Delhi hosted this year’s IMOTY, with the jury comprising 14 of India’s top automobile editors. Including, Bertrand D’souza, Rahul Ghosh, Dipayan Dutta, Shivank Bhatt, Joshua Varghese, etc. Price, fuel economy, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technological innovation, value for money, and suitability for Indian riding conditions were all essential considerations in choosing the winner.

2024 IMOTY Winner: Royal Enfield Himalayan

Royal Enfield introduced the all-new Himalayan in November 2023 with a starting price of Rs 2.69 lakh. A new steel twin-spar tubular frame chassis and a new Sherpa 450 engine are two of the many updates this bike has received.

Royal Enfield Himalayan is an adventure bike that has six colors and four variants. The 411cc BS6 engine installed in Royal Enfield Himalayan produces 32 Nm torque and 24.3 horsepower. Royal Enfield Himalayan has disc brakes, both front and rear, and an anti-locking braking system. This Himalayan bike has a 15-liter fuel tank and weighs 199 kg.

2024 Indian Motorcycle of the Year: Contenders

1. Harley Davidson X440

Launched in July 2023, the Harley Davidson X440 was the American motorcycle manufacturer’s first entry-level debut in the Indian market in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp. This motorcycle has a 440cc single-cylinder engine that generates 27 horsepower and 38 Nm. At present, its price is Rs 2.39 lakh.

2. Hero Karizma XMR

Hero brought the Karizma brand back to life with the launch of the Karizma XMR in India in August 2023. This motorcycle has a 210cc engine that generates 25bhp and 20.4Nm and is available for Rs 1.80 lakh.

3. KTM 390 Duke

In September 2023, KTM Bikes introduced the third edition of this Hooligan machine in India. The KTM 390 Duke currently has a 399cc, single-cylinder, LC4 engine that produces 39Nm and 44 horsepower.

4. Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

In January 2023, Royal Enfield Motorcycles updated its lineup with the introduction of the Super Meteor 650, a 650cc motorcycle priced at Rs 3.49 lakh. It is powered by the same 46 horsepower and 52.3 Nm engine that was used in the 650 twins.

5. Triumph Scrambler 400X

In October 2023, the Triumph Scrambler 400X premiered. 398cc engine which produces 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm torque. A six-speed transmission with slip-and-assist clutch and ride-by-wire technology is mated to the engine.

6. TVS Apache RTR 310

In September 2023, TVS unveiled the RTR 310, a facelifted version of the Apache RR 310. The 312.2 cc engine in this motorcycle produces 35 horsepower and 28.7 Nm.
