Aprilia RS 440 Sports Bike Spied On Test In India

Aprilia RS 440 has been spied in camouflage while testing. The test mule assures us that it will be the most affordable sports bike from the brand in India.

Good news if you love Aprilia bikes but can’t afford the expensive stuff. An Aprilia RS 440 sports bike test mule has been spotted in India for the first time. Despite being completely covered in camouflage, the test bike has revealed what could be the cheapest sports bike from Aprilia. Details about Aprilia RS 440 sports bike are given below.

Aprilia RS 440: Test Bike Details

Bikes like the RS 660 and the RS V4 come to mind when the name Appilia comes up. Unfortunately, the brand does not offer an entry-level or reasonably priced sports bike in India. Thus, the RS 440 will soon enter the picture to counter it. The test mule we are talking about was spotted near the Aprilia facility. Although the bike was fully camouflaged, some design elements were visible. The front design is similar to the Aprilia RS 660, although it is evident that the overall size is modest. The rider triangle also appears to be loose. The handlebar is set rearward for clip-ons. The footpegs are ideally positioned for simple long routes of riding.

The headlight style also resembles that of the Aprilia RS series sports bikes. It will include LED lighting, as we infer from the spy images. Compared to the RS 660, the swingarm design is also slimmer. A USD front suspension and a mono-shock suspension at the rear are other components. The alloy wheel design, however, is nothing like the current RS series lineup. Aprilia will also produce the bike locally to keep the cost of the bike low. We can expect a longer riding range as a bigger fuel tank has also been fitted. The most intriguing aspect of its design is the full body cover, which makes it look bigger than it is.

Here, under its fuel tank, is where the real intriguing part lies. That’s right, the engine. Even though there are no official details, we believe it to be a 440cc engine. It could be powered by a parallel-twin engine with a peak power output between 45 and 55 bhp. Aprilia RS 440 includes a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch. A digital instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity, riding mode, etc., will likely be added.

Conclusion

Despite being spied testing for the first time, we believe the RS 440 will be unveiled soon. It is believed that Aprilia will introduce it in India in about 18 months. However, pricing will be the most important factor as the location will be interesting. It will be big enough to retain its position above the KTM RC 390 while compact enough to stay below the Kawasaki Ninja 400. Hence, its sticker price is expected to be around Rs.4 lakh. Let’s see how it develops over the next few months.
