In November 2007, Bajaj Auto acquired a 14.5% stake in KTM Power Sports AG (the holding company of KTM Sportmotorcycle AG). The two companies have signed a collaboration agreement, under which KTM will provide know-how for the joint development of water-cooled four-stroke 125 and 250 cc engines. Bajaj will handle the distribution of KTM products in India and some other Southeast Asian nations.
In 1953, a businessman named Ernst Kronrief became a major company shareholder. As a result, the company was renamed and registered as Kronreiff & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen.
