Indian Motorcycle (or Indian), as the name is heard in the two-wheeler industry, is an American brand owned and produced by the American motor vehicle manufacturer Polaris Inc. The Hendy Manufacturing Company, initially produced in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States, from 1901 to 1953, initially produced motorcycles. But in 1923, its name was changed to Indian Motorcycle Company. 

In 2011, Polaris Industries purchased the Indian motorcycle marque. Operations were then moved out of North Carolina and merged into its existing facilities in Minnesota and Iowa. Since August 2013, Polaris has designed, engineered, and manufactured several series of motorcycles reflecting Indian traditional style under the Indian Motorcycle brand. Indian Motors has updated its line-up with the launch of, BS6-compliant, Super Chief Limited in the Indian market. The latest model of the motorcycle is powered by the company's Thunderstroke engine and is built on a steel-tube frame. The BS6-compliant 1,890cc twin-cylinder, air-cooled engine produces 162 Nm of peak torque at 3,200 rpm. The Indian Super Chief Limited cruiser bike comes in three colors and one variant.
