Upcoming Hero 200cc

The new bike gives the first impression of a bigger Hero Xtreme 160R, which could replace the previous Xtreme 200R.

A new design patent has revealed what Hero’s upcoming bike could look like, and it appears to be a new 200cc model. At first glance, the design looks like a beefed-up Xtreme 160R. The new bike might be able to fill the void left by the predecessor Xtreme 200R.

The engine size and kick-starting design are largely similar to the Xpulse 200 model, and the exhaust system design is almost comparable to the recently revised Xpulse 200T. Expect around 19hp and 17Nm from the 4-valve engine if it ends up in this vehicle, which will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed transmission. These figures will be almost at par with the segment leader TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.

Though slightly more refined, the headlamp unit and the shrouds around it are largely similar to the Xtreme 160R. The look of the fuel tank, side panels, and seat are very similar, along with the ergonomics, which include a flat, wide handlebar and somewhat backset footpegs. It differs because the panels bordering the rear seat are wider and sharper, and the belly pan is wider and more enveloping.

However, despite the similarities, the new bike may not be named Xtreme 200R. As per rumors, Hero Motocorp might instead rely on nostalgia to drum up interest in the bike, like the Hero Hunk 200 with a memorable moniker from the past. Whatever name it gets, it will be supported by a single-downtube frame. Mounted on the swingarm with telescopic fork, mono-shock, and box-section. Expect disc brakes at both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels.
