Honda SP160

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) expands its 160cc product portfolio by launching a new premium commuter motorcycle. The 2023 Honda SP160 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

Visually, it is the company’s third 160cc motorcycle after the iconic Unicorn and X-Blade; it sits in between the two Hondas, the Unicorn being a traditional, old-school commuter, while the XBlade is a more aggressively styled and modern motorcycle. Here are the top 5 things about the new Honda SP160.

Honda SP160- Design

Honda is offering this bike in several paint schemes. With its commuter design, the SP160 looks youthful due to the headlight design, sharp bodywork, and tank extensions. The front design of the new SP160 seems to adopt a practical approach with sportiness. When compared to the SP125, it appears that the new 160 has borrowed the structure.

Honda SP160- Engine

The SP160 is powered by a 162.71cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates 13.2 bhp of max power and 14.59Nm of peak torque. The kerb weight of the SP160 is 139 kg, with a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters. The engine of the bike is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, the Unicorn engine capacity, bore-stroke values, and output figures remain the same.

Honda SP160- Hardware And Features

The features of SP160 are front forks with telescopic, mono-shock, and absorber at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum/disc unit with single-channel ABS at the rear.

The SP160 features an all-digital instrument cluster that contains information, including a tachometer, speedometer, and gear position indicator. However, it lacks Bluetooth connectivity.

Honda SP160- Price And Rivals

The 2023 SP160 is available in two new variants. Its rear drum brake variant starts at Rs 1.18 lakh, and its rear disc brake variant starts at Rs 1.22 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals of SP160 are Honda Unicorn, TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar 150, Yamaha FZ-S etc.
