Compared to the Ducati Scrambler 1100, how does the new Triumph Scrambler 1200X perform? This is a brief specification check.

Two bike manufacturers that are taking advantage of the growing popularity of scrambler bikes are Triumph and Ducati. Italian manufacturer, Triumph, offers the spectrum top Scrambler 1100 in its Scrambler portfolio, while the company’s flagship model, the Scrambler 1200X, was recently introduced in India.

Here’s how both the motorcycles compare in terms of specs and equipment. Despite having different names and different approaches to the same product, both motorcycles offer unique features.


The Ducati Scrambler 1100 and Triumph Scrambler 1200X have different designs that set them apart, even though they both aim to capture the essence of the Scrambler motorcycles of old.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 has a sleeker, more modern style with straighter lines and a more understated appearance. The Triumph Scrambler 1200, on the other hand, pays homage to vintage Scramblers with a more retro-inspired look.

Engine specifications

Despite having similar twin-cylinder engines, their different configurations and power outputs once again give them distinct characters. These can be used off-road and for extended riding, and the large engine displacement is more than enough for both.

The Ducati Scrambler 1100 is powered by a 1079cc air-cooled L-twin engine that produces 84 horsepower and 88 Nm of torque. The two-valve desmodromic technology in the engine helps in providing smooth power throughout the RPM range. The L-twin arrangement of the engine gives it a unique character and sound, and the air-cooled setup adds to the vintage appearance of the bike.

In contrast, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X has a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 110 Nm of torque and 89 horsepower. The engine’s 270-degree crankshaft enhances the off-road capability of the bike and gives it a distinctive sound and personality. Due to its liquid-cooled spec, the engine performs more consistently across a more comprehensive temperature range, and its increased power output compared to the Ducati makes it a more capable vehicle in rough and wild terrain.

The fuel-injected engines of both Ducati and Triumph Motorcycles are equipped with multiple riding modes, traction control, and ride-by-wire throttle control, among other electronic rider aids. The engines have the performance and personality that riders have come to expect from a Scrambler-type motorcycle, but they are also built to comply with stringent emissions standards.

Features and equipment

Along with non-adjust USD forks and preload-adjusting Marzocchi rear mono-shock, the Triumph Scrambler 1200X also features a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, dual-channel ABS disc brakes at both ends, cornering ABS, traction control and a TFT instrument dashboard.

Marzocchi fully adjustable front forks, a Kayaba mono-shock at the rear, 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, an LCD instrument dashboard, riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, and other features are all included with the Ducati Scrambler 1100. When comparing the Ducati Scrambler 1100 vs Triumph Scrambler 1200, both motorcycles are smart as well as simple, with less equipment than their full-fledged adventure siblings.

What to Choose

Both the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and the Triumph Scrambler 1200 X are great bikes, each with their pros and cons. The final decision between the two will depend on riding style, intended use, and personal preference. But when it comes to cost, we can separate them apart.
