Gogoro Unveils India-made CrossOver E-scooter

Gogoro, the electric vehicle manufacturer, recently unveiled an India-made CrossOver e-scooter. Know the riding range, colors, variants, specs, features, and more through this news.

Taiwanese startup Gogoro Bikes has expanded into India with its e-scooter and unique battery-swap technology. According to Gogoro, replacing a fully charged battery can take about six seconds or less. The e-scooter also has a twin shock system at the rear and a telescopic fork at the front. Disc brakes at both ends and a flat floorboard that can reportedly support larger objects handle the braking responsibilities. It has a twin-seat configuration with a detachable pillion seat.

Gogoro CrossOver: First e-scooter with battery swap technology

Taiwan-based electric vehicle company Gogoro has unveiled a locally made crossover electric scooter with battery swap technology. Three models of the crossover e-scooter will be offered: GX 250, Crossover 50, and Crossover S. The company’s manufacturing plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, will produce the e-scooter. While the Crossover 50 and Crossover S won’t go on sale until mid-2024, the GX 250 will be available immediately.

With this announcement, the company also announced the launch of its battery-swapping network in Delhi and Goa. Additionally, the company announced that it will launch service in Pune and Mumbai in the first half of 2024. According to Gogoro, the crossover series integrates India-specific features riders want in India and is completely manufactured in India.

Gogoro CrossOver: Design and Hardware

The electric scooter has a realistic look, with a horizontal tail lamp at the rear and a large LED headlamp at the front. The e-scooter has a twin shock system at the rear and a telescopic fork at the front. Disc brakes at both ends and a flat floorboard that can reportedly support larger objects handle the braking duties. With a detachable pillion seat that can be used as cargo space, it has a twin-seat configuration. The EV can carry up to 200 kg of cargo and has a ground clearance of 176 mm.

Gogoro CrossOver: Specs and Features

Regarding the motor and battery, the B2B-oriented GX250 has a 2.5kW mid-drive motor that can reach a top speed of 60km/h. The Gogoro Crossover 50 adds a more powerful 5 kW hub motor, and the S will come with a 6.4 or 7 kW motor. Two swappable 1.6 kWh battery packs are included with all three versions for a total capacity of 3.2 kWh. For the GX250, the business claims a range of 111 kilometers; However, the range and other specifications of the Crossover 50 and Crossover S will be revealed later.

Gogoro CrossOver: Price and rivals

Three Gogoro crossover models will be available at launch: the Crossover GX250, Crossover 50, and Crossover S. The GX250 is the only available e-scooter right now; however, the Crossover 50 and Crossover S will be available in 2024. Prices and exact specifications have yet to be made public, although they should be revealed with the product launch.

The Gogoro CrossOver is expected to compete with River Indie and other electric scooter such as Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS X, and iQube· The Gogoro CrossOver will be available to customers at the start of 2024.
