The new range-topping variant gets a large fairing, TFT screen, and hard luggage.
BMW Motorrad’s R18 Transcontinental is now available for Rs 31.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In the BMW Motorrad India lineup, this new model joins the R18 (Rs 19.90 lakh), R18 First Edition (Rs 22.55 lakh), and the R18 Classic First Edition (Rs 24.00 lakh).
A 91hp 1,802cc boxer engine powers the BMW R18 Transcontinental. It features a large windscreen, alloys, and a Marshall audio system.
BMW R18 Transcontinental: What’s different?
The R18 Transcontinental features a large handlebar-mounted fairing with a windscreen, wind deflectors, body-colored panniers, and a top box, reflecting the focus on touring. In addition, it is equipped with alloy wheels and rear seats. The updated instrumentation with four circular analog gauges and a 10.25-inch TFT screen is an important addition. Included with the R18 Transcontinental is a Marshall Gold Series Stage 2 audio system with six speakers and a subwoofer. The R18 Transcontinental can be further customized by customers using a selection of BMW Motorrad accessories.
Additionally included technologies are an adaptive LED headlamp, automatic stability control, dynamic engine brake control, hill-start control, and active cruise control (ACC), which uses radar sensors to modify speed in response to vehicles in front of it.
Black Storm Metallic, Gravity Blue Metallic, Manhattan Metallic Matte, Option 719 Mineral White Metallic, and Option 719 Galaxy Dust Metallic/Titan Silver 2 Metallic are the five colors for BMW R18 Transcontinental.
BMW R18 Transcontinental: Powertrain
The same 1,802cc, air-and-oil-cooled boxer engine offered with the standard R18 variant powers the new R18 Transcontinental. The engine’s maximum output is 158 Nm at 3,000 Rpm and 91 bhp at 4,750 Rpm, with over 150 Nm available between 2,000 Rpm and 4,000 Rpm. It is mated to a six-speed transmission. According to BMW, the new sports motorcycle has a shaft drive system with a top speed of 189 km/h.
