Today, on 15 December 2023, Yamaha will launch YZF-R3 and MT-03 in India. Both the motorcycles will compete with other sports bikes and make their nationwide premiere.
Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03: What to Know
Yamaha is set to unveil the 2023 YZF-R3 and MT-03 in India on December 15. Both motorcycles will be available for purchase as CBU through its exclusive Blue Square touchpoint. Both motorcycles were recently included in the 2023 MotoGP India event held at the Buddh International Circuit.
2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03: Engine and performance
The 321cc parallel-twin engine powering both the Yamaha MT-03 and Yamaha R3 has remained mostly unchanged over the years. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, producing 42 horsepower and 29.6 Nm of torque. Based on the World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC), the YZF-R3 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.4 km/l when paired with a six-speed transmission.
The feature list and motorcycle parts are similar on both bikes. They have USD forks and a mono-shock for suspension, and they ride on 17-inch wheels at both ends. Meanwhile, braking at both ends is handled by a single disc with ABS. Regarding this, the YZF-R3 and MT-03 have an LCD panel, LED headlamps, and dual-channel ABS. Although these are functional, they lack compared to their competitors on the list.
2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03: Specifications
The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03 feature KYB upside-down front forks, a fully digital LCD console, an adjustable rear mono-shock, a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, a 298 mm front disc setup, and a 220 mm rear disc arrangement and all-LED lighting. There are 140/70 17 tires at the rear and 110/70 17 tires at the front.
Yamaha recently updated the YZF-R3 for the 2023 model year, adding LED indicators and a new purple color option. Three new colors are available for the SuperSport: Dark Bluish Purple Metallic, Black Metallic, and Deep Purplish Blue Metallic. Similarly, India will probably get the MT-03 in three different colors.
Why did Yamaha Motorcycles stop promoting MT 03 and YZF-R3?
Despite being a great motorcycle. Why did Yamaha Motorcycles stop promoting these motorcycles? Because MT03 and R3 did not manage to achieve good sales numbers during its journey in India. Therefore, at that time, Yamaha motorcycles stopped their production and tried to improve them.
2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03: Prices
The 2023 YZF-R3 and MT-03 are expected to be priced between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 4.50 lakh with the CBU route. When it launches, the 2023 YZF-R3 will compete with bikes like the Kawasaki Ninja 400, KTM RC 390, and the Kawasaki Ninja 300. On the other hand, MT-03 will compete with the 2024 KTM 390 Duke, Harley-Davidson X440, and Triumph Speed 400.
