Electric mobility is on the rise not only in India but also in the global market. Kawasaki has showcased its potential electric vehicle offerings for the global market in Europe. Z EV and Ninja electric motorcycles were the models on display.
Kawasaki Electric Ninja and Z EV: What to Know
Both the Z and Ninja EV prototypes have LED lighting and are similar to petrol motorcycles in size. Kawasaki has also provided disc brakes at both ends, and the suspension system includes telescoping front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. A handle-like feature on the right, next to the rider’s footpeg, denotes a detachable battery pack.
The latest information suggests that the bike will feature a 3kWh battery unit and get around 7kW of continuous power, though Kawasaki has yet to confirm the figures. The TFT console pictures show two different bars of battery level; thus, it is also possible that the Japanese bike maker will offer two different battery packs. There was also an “E-Boost” option on the screen, which, as its name suggests, could provide a brief boost in power.
Kawasaki has hinted at another model, and it appears to be a bigger offering – possibly a motorbike that uses hybrid technology. It could be based on the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and will feature a 48-V generator system that charges when the internal combustion engine is on. Gear can be changed automatically using an automatic clutch operating with an electric motor.
Although the overall strategy is still in its early stages, we expect Kawasaki to announce it sometime this year formally. It may introduce an EV first and then a hybrid.
