Kawasaki is expected to unveil the new Ninja ZX-6R at the India Bike Week in 2023. Here’s everything to expect from the supersport motorcycle ahead of its arrival in the country.
Updated design
The most obvious difference is in the looks of the new Ninja ZX-6R. The current generation model is faster than the previous one, even though the first one was still aggressive. In line with other Ninja family motorcycles, the large RAM air intake located between the LED headlamps gives the front end the feel of the original ZX-6R.
Nevertheless, the rear end is still quite closely modeled with only minor changes. In any case, Kawasaki Motorcycles is offering the model in black, silver, and red color schemes apart from the KRT colors. The Japanese company also unveiled the Anniversary Edition – which comes in white, green, and blue.
New features
Apart from the LED headlamp unit, Kawasaki has also improved other features on the Ninja ZX-6R. It now has a TFT screen that is Bluetooth compatible and offers navigation updates in addition to call and SMS notifications. The Ninja also gets dual-channel ABS and traction control with four riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, and rider-adaptable.
Inline-four engine and hardware
The 636cc inline four-cylinder engine in the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX 6R generates 69 Nm torque at 10,800 rpm and 129bhp power at 13,000 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a two-way quick-shifter for clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The hardware configuration of the Ninja ZX-6R includes a gas-charged mono-shock and Showa Separate Function Forks (SFF-BP) at the rear. Its adjustable spring preload, rebound, and compression damping provide track-day use. Next, there are two 310 mm front discs and a 220 mm rear disc as part of the braking hardware. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels with 120/70 tires at the front and 180/55 tires at the rear.
Price expectation
Kawasaki will offer it at more than the previous ex-showroom price of Rs 11 lakh, considering the improvements in its features, design, and hardware. Its price can be around Rs 12 lakh ex-showroom. In terms of competition, the Honda CBR650R will be the biggest rival of the Ninja ZX-6R.
