How does the KTM RC 200 compete with the Bajaj Pulsar RS200

The 2024 iteration of KTM’s popular RC 200 supersport motorcycle has been unveiled for the world market. The bike now has updated graphics and two new paint jobs. However, on our soil, this bike will have to compete with the 2024 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 in the 200cc segment.

So, who is superior, the KTM RC 200 or the Pulsar RS 200? Learn more.

KTM RC 200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200: Things to know

In 2015, Bajaj Auto debuted on our ground with a full-faired motorcycle with the RS200. However, the entry of its main rival, the KTM RC 200, in the 200cc supersport class 2014 prevented the automaker from making the expected impact. After ten years, the competition is back, thanks to the latest models from competitors from each bike manufacturer.

Design

While comparing the Bajaj RS 200 vs KTM RC 200, most bike enthusiasts find that the RC 200 looks more attractive with sporty body graphics.

The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 has boomerang-shaped LED taillamps, a clip-on handlebar, a straight windscreen, full-fairing, twin projector headlights with eyebrow-like DRLs, and a side-mounted exhaust. With its large fuel tank, clip-on handlebar, split seat, underbelly exhaust, raised windscreen, backlit LCD instrument cluster, halogen headlamps, and compact LED taillamps, the KTM RC 200 boasts a sporty presence. The wheels of both bikes are 17-inch alloys.

Engine and Specs

The 199.5cc DTS-i liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine powering the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 can produce up to 18.7Nm of peak torque and 24.2hp maximum power. In contrast, the KTM RC 200 is powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces a maximum power output of 25.4 horsepower and a peak torque of 19.5 Nm. A six-speed manual gearbox handles transmission duties on both sportbikes.

Safety

The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and KTM RC 200 feature dual-channel ABS for better handling, ride quality, and disc brakes on both wheels for rider safety. At the front, the RC 200 has 43 mm WP Apex inverted forks, while the RS200 has telescopic forks. A mono-shock unit with preload adjustment is installed at the rear of both motorcycles.

KTM RC 200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200: What to choose

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is available in India for Rs 1.72 lakh. In contrast, the ex-showroom price of the 2024 KTM RC 200 is Rs 2.14 lakh. Even though the 2024 RC 200 is more expensive, it makes more sense for our ground due to its aggressive design, new paint job, and better safety equipment.
