Regarding their large bike portfolio, Aprilia India has been doing poorly lately. Their lack of presence, marketing, and bikes around the nation made them appear nonexistent in this market. When Aprilia introduced its 2024 line of new motorcycles in India with multiple-cylinder engines, it all changed. Here, we discuss the salient features of the Tuono 660 naked bike and the RS 660 supersport.
Apart from the difference in riding positions and the Tuono 660’s lack of a full fairing, both bikes appear to be identical to those who are unfamiliar with them. Let’s examine the points of similarity and distinction between these Aprilia motorcycles:
Aprilia Rs 660 and Tuono 660: Things to know
Features
They include computerized instrument consoles with a range of indicators, including a fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer, warning light for hazards, and more. These models come with two trip meters, different riding modes, LED lights, and mobile app connectivity.
Preload adjusters for the front and rear suspension, stepped seats, electric start, kill switches, and hazard alert switches are further common features. They also have cutting-edge features, including engine mapping, engine brake, and wheelie control.
On the other hand, cruise control is an option on the RS 660 and not on the Tuono 660. While the Tuono 660 offers a USB charging port as an optional feature, the RS 660 has one as standard.
Power And Performance
The 659cc twin-cylinder engine is shared by the Tuono 660 and Aprilia RS 660. The RS 660 produces a torque of 67 Nm and 100 horsepower. The Tuono 660, meanwhile, delivers a torque of 67 Nm and 95 horsepower. There is a 15-liter petrol tank and a 4-liter reserve fuel capacity on both two-wheelers.
There is a six-speed transmission on both sports bikes. While the Tuono 660 has a fast shifter as an option, the RS 660 comes with one as standard. The Aprilia RS 660 can reach a top speed of 230 kmph. Conversely, the highest speed of its competitors is 230 kmph.
Hardware
The bikes Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 660 have a perimeter frame. Their front suspension consists of 41mm KYB upside-down forks, while their rear suspension is a mono-shock setup.
Additionally, both versions include two 320mm discs up front and one 220mm disc in the back. For a fun riding experience, this offers precise handling, braking, operating, and stability.
Design
It has been a highly successful move on Aprilia’s part to give the RS 660 and Tuono 660 a more compact look compared to their larger capacity cousins, the RSV4 and Tuono V4. These two motorcycles have the characteristically Italian flair of Italian design, making them visually appealing and impressive.
The smooth tail section, the fairing’s creases and cuts, and the tri-LED headlamps are all expertly done. The bikes themselves are small and extremely functional, with no extra bulk. There isn’t anything wrong with the bikes’ appearance. Nevertheless, the narrow and uncomfortable pillion seats on both bikes should be noted. This time, form triumphs over functionality.
Price
The 2024 RS 660 is priced at Rs 17.74 lakh by Aprilia, while the Tuono 660 is priced at Rs 17.44 lakh, ex-showroom. Since they are imported into the nation as CBUs or fully constructed units, the prices are very high. High taxes result from that, which Aprilia must charge the customer.
The issue for Aprilia is that these pricing place bikes with higher power, such as the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, the Triumph Street Triple RS, and even the Ducati Supersport 950, alongside the RS 660 and the Tuono 660. This is the reason the large Aprilia bikes cost so much.
