Yamaha MT15 V2 Top 5 Highlights

The MT-15 has been updated and released by Yamaha Motor India. Yamaha’s R15 is essentially a stripped-down version of the MT-15, and many parts of the two are similar. We now have the bike’s Version 2.0, which made its debut in India back in 2019. Not too long ago, the R15 received an update, and now the MT-15 sports bike has also been released in Version 2.0. Here are five aspects of this latest version that you should be aware of!

1. Engine Specs

The 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder VVA engine that powered the previous model powers the new MT-15. At 10,000 rpm, it generates 18.4 PS, and at 7,500 rpm, 14.1 Nm. The new bike produces 0.2 Nm more torque but 0.1 PS less power than the MT-15 BS6 variant. We think it’s a superior bargain because the torque increase should enhance its low-end performance, and the small power loss is negligible. But until we have a chance to test-ride the bike, we will hold off on making a decision.

2. New Hardware

The MT-15 V2 receives upgraded front suspension, much like the Yamaha R15 V4. Before now, it received right-side-up forks, but USD forks have taken their place. The forks’ gold-painted upper section certainly draws attention from onlookers. Additionally, Yamaha describes the new swingarm as “an aluminum swingarm inspired by MotoGP,” replacing the box-section swingarm. This should improve the bike’s ability to handle corners with poise.

3. Additional Color Options

Yamaha has added additional color options to this naked streetfighter, but the design has remained the same. The bike was previously offered in Ice Fluo-Vermillion and Metallic Black, but it is now also seen in Racing Blue and Cyan Storm. The Cyan Storm design, in particular, appears to be very striking. You also receive a single-piece saddle in addition to an LED headlamp and tail lamp assembly. The panel next to the gasoline tank now has somewhat different graphics.

4. Updated Price

The MT-15 has also increased in price due to the kit update. Ex-showroom, the price of the Metallic Black paint is Rs 1,59,900, while the remaining three color options cost up to Rs 1,60,900. Because of this, the new model costs almost Rs 14,000 more than the previous iteration. The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0, Suzuki Gixxer 250, and other motorcycles will compete with the MT-15 Version 2.0 due to its price.

5. Style

Although Yamaha Motorcycles has added two new color options (Racing Blue and Cyan Storm) to set it apart from the previous generation, we were hoping for more. The MT-15 Version 2.0’s design ought to have been changed by Yamaha to resemble the R15 V4. Just think about how amazing the Yamaha MT-03’s design would have made the new MT-15 seem.

What It Does Not Include

The Yamaha MT-15 from 2022 is still using single-channel ABS. We find this unacceptable given its cost, sporty nature, and performance. If nothing else, Yamaha could have provided dual-channel ABS as an extra option. The Yamaha R15M version comes equipped with traction control and a quick-shifter as standard equipment.
