BMW Motorrad has been attempting to enter the Indian market for electric motorcycles. We have seen the CE 04 at several events and have encountered the test mules of its CE 02. In less than a month, the German carmaker plans to introduce the CE 04 in India. This is what we currently know about it.
INNOVATIVE STYLE
Upon first glance, the CE 04’s futuristic style makes a striking impression. The scooter has a significant, modern appearance. The CE 04 has a unique size and style despite its design potentially dividing opinions. Its appearance differs significantly from that of a typical electric scooter.
Brimming with Technology: BMW has packed the CE 04 with features. It has three ride modes (eco, rain, and ride), ABS, a USB-C charging connector, three full LED illuminations, a 10.2-inch TFT with smartphone compatibility, and more. BMW also provides extra accessories, such as heated grips, an anti-theft alarm, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a few more tools.
EXTENSIVE POWER AND RANGE
The BMW CE-04 has a 15kW permanent magnet liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor and an 8.9kWh battery. The arrangement claims a 130 km range and a top speed of roughly 120 kmph. The scooter appears to have respectable numbers, which should allow it to be used within city limits.
HARDWARE
The BMW CE 04’s braking system consists of two 265mm front discs and one 265mm rear disc. The bike is equipped with telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock. These are installed on 15-inch wheels, with front and rear tires measuring 120/70 and 160/60, respectively. Nevertheless, the CE 04 is quite heavy—231 kg.
EXPECTED COST
BMW retails the CE 04 for USD 12,430, or around Rs. 10.38 lakh. Thus, you should pay roughly the same amount in India. As a result, it will become one of the most expensive electric two-wheelers in India.
