BMW M 1000 XR Top Five Highlights

After the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R, the German motorcycle maker BMW Motorrad has now formally unveiled the all-new M 1000 XR. Hailed as the most powerful crossover motorbike to date, the M 1000 XR features an even more potent engine, a plethora of M components, lightweight materials, cutting-edge electronics, and the iconic M livery.

Design

While the all-new BMW M 1000 XR and the ordinary S 1000 XR have similar designs, the former has a more aggressive and sportier look. Not to be forgotten, BMW revised the S 1000 XR for the 2024 model year as well.

The M 1000 XR has newly developed M winglets to improve stability at high speeds. Other design elements in the new superbike in India include a smoked windscreen, bar-end mirrors, two new colors—Blackstorm Metallic and Light White—and split LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights that are modeled after the flagship model.

BMW provides the M Competition Package for individuals who want even more in terms of design. This package includes a variety of M elements, including side panels, front wheel cover, inner cover, ignition cover, carbon wheels, and rear wheel cover with integrated chain guard. Additionally, riders can benefit from movable foot pegs for both the lead and follower.

Engine And Performance

The 999cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine powering the all-new M 1000 XR produces an astounding 201hp at 12,750 rpm (31 horsepower more than the S 1000 XR) and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm, with a maximum rev limit of 14,600 rpm.

This potent powerplant is matched with a six-speed gearbox. The S 1000 XR’s 45-tooth sprocket has been replaced with a larger 47-tooth unit, and BMW has further adjusted the gear ratios.

The M 1000 XR can accelerate quickly. It takes just 3.2 seconds to reach 100 kmph from a standstill and 7.4 seconds to reach 200 kmph, and at its fastest, it can achieve a top speed of 280 kmph.

Features And Specifications

The M 1000 XR weighs 223 kg (DIN empty), but if you choose the M Competition package, you can reduce that weight by 3 kg. The seat height is 850mm, but with the M Competition package, it may be changed to 820mm or 870mm.

Hardware

The USD front forks with electronic self-adjusting rebound and compression damping are fitted on the BMW M 1000 XR. Additionally, the monoshock is adjustable. One 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS and two 320mm front discs up front provide the braking force. These are installed on 17-inch wheels with tyres measuring 200/55 on the back and 120/70 on the front.
