The 2024 S 1000 XR, which BMW Motorrad unveiled in India, revives the sport tourer segment. The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR has an ex-showroom pricing of ₹25.27 lakh, which is ₹40,000 more than its previous documented price. Aesthetic improvements have also been made to the new model. BMW recently unveiled the BMW M 1000 XR, an M-spec variant of the S 1000 XR with even more performance and a staggering pricing price of ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Engine
The updated 999 cc, inline four-cylinder engine with flow-optimized design provides power to the 2024 BMW S 1000 XR. At 11,000 rpm, the motor produces 168 horsepower, and at 9,250 rpm, it reaches its peak torque of 114 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quick-shifter. Despite being taken from the S 1000 RR, this motor produces less power because it is probably modified for sport-touring.
Design
The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR has several new paint schemes available, although looking similar to the model from the previous year. In addition, the bike has a more aggressive and sporty appearance. Three color options are available for the 2024 S 1000 XR from BMW: Light White, Black Storm Metallic 2, and Gravity Blue Metallic.
Hardware
Additional mechanical improvements include a 220 mm single disc brake at the back and 320 mm twin disc brakes up front. Numerous other technological features are also included as standard, including lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, and more. With an 850 mm seat height that can be lowered with add-ons, the bike has a lofty stature. The seat has undergone revision to better suit track riding and touring.
Because the S 1000 XR has electronically adjustable USD front forks and a mono-shock, even the suspension is somewhat high-end. Its brakes, meanwhile, are a single rear disc and two front discs with dual-channel ABS.
These are installed on 17-inch wheels with tyres measuring 120/70 on the front and 190/55 on the back.
Features
The S 1000 XR comes fully loaded with BMW features. LED lighting, Pro riding modes, Hill Start Control, ABS, and Traction Control are all on the list. Additionally, it has a TFT with keyless entry, a USB charging outlet, smartphone connectivity, and an emergency call feature.
Price
The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR price is comparatively higher than the previous version. The new price starts from ₹ 25,27,760 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is almost ₹ 40,000 higher than the previous model.
